Our Story
In the face of a difficult battle with colon cancer and the long, exhausting treatments that came with it, Sandi Sammons chose to respond with hope, honesty, and light. With her feet propped up in the infusion chair and her tablet resting in her lap, she snapped a simple photo of her “happy shoes”—a moment that became the spark for something much bigger. Treatment after treatment, Sandi wrote. She wrote about her joy, her frustrations, her faith, and the small miracles she noticed along the way. Her words became a lifeline, not only for herself but for everyone who followed her journey.
For nearly two years, those “happy shoes” carried her through some of her hardest days, and her writing became a powerful expression of resilience and encouragement. Even in moments of uncertainty, Sandi found ways to lift others up, offering comfort and inspiration through her openness and strength. Her passing in April 2017 left a profound impact on all who knew her, but her spirit continues to shine.
Today, Sandi’s legacy lives on through the dedication of her husband, Keith, and The HAPPY SHOES Project—an effort committed to spreading the same hope, compassion, and courage that Sandi shared so generously with the world.
